The Best BJJ Gyms in Long Island, New York

Long Island lives up to its name. Valley Stream to Riverhead is a long drive with the roads clear, and the LIE at rush hour is another matter entirely, so narrow things down to your end of the Island first.

Brooklyn and Queens sit on Long Island too, geographically speaking, but we've kept them on the New York City page. This one is for Nassau and Suffolk. Nassau's South Shore, from Valley Stream out to Massapequa, has the biggest group, and central Nassau adds a few around Mineola and Hicksville. In Suffolk, Huntington, Smithtown and Patchogue each have small clusters, and Riverhead is as far east as the page goes.

MMA gyms are common out here, so if you're after jiu-jitsu specifically, look at the timetable before you sign up. Renzo Gracie has an academy in Smithtown, Unity has one in Valley Stream, and 10th Planet is on the Island too. Freedom Jiu Jitsu in Patchogue has the biggest pile of Google reviews, and Royal Jiu Jitsu Academy in Mineola also ranks high.
