The Best BJJ Gyms in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

In Pittsburgh, the route to the gym deserves as much attention as the distance. A school across a river or beyond a tunnel can be a different commitment from one on your side of town. We include the surrounding metro here, from Wexford and the northern suburbs to Bridgeville and the South Hills, with options farther east around Monroeville and Murrysville too.

You can compare dedicated jiu-jitsu schools with broader martial arts gyms offering BJJ programs. Stout PGH has a presence in the city and the surrounding area, while Alliance and 10th Planet also appear among the local teams. If you start with Google reviews, Stout PGH Strip District and Indio Dojo Martial Arts in Bridgeville draw particularly large numbers, followed by Wright’s Gym in Crafton. Read those reviews for details about the class you want to attend; a busy martial arts facility can teach several different disciplines.

Try the journey at your intended training time before committing to a membership. Someone working in the Strip District and someone based in the South Hills may end up with very different shortlists, even when both describe their search as “BJJ Pittsburgh.”
