The Best BJJ Gyms in Cleveland, Ohio

Several of the busier gyms around Cleveland are broader martial arts schools, where jiu-jitsu shares the mat with judo or striking. If BJJ is your focus, check that a gym runs dedicated classes at the level you want before you sign up. And don't expect many of the big international teams; they have little presence in Northeast Ohio.

Northeast Ohio is really what this page covers. Most of the scene is in the suburbs, and on the east side Beachwood is the main cluster, with more around Solon and Chagrin Falls and out to Twinsburg. The west side runs from Lakewood and Rocky River out to Avon and Vermilion. Parma, Brecksville and Medina cover the south, and Willoughby and Mentor the northeast.

Hurricane Jiu Jitsu in Kamm's Corners, inside the city itself, is one of the most-reviewed academies in the area on Google. Upgraded Industries in Mentor and Chu To Bu Brasa Judo Jiu Jitsu in Avon are in that company too. Since the east and west sides are a real drive apart, start with the gyms on your side of the Cuyahoga River.
