The BJJ Scene in Barcelona

A heads-up before you start reading gym websites in Barcelona: Catalan and Spanish are both widely used here, so a site or schedule might be in either language, or in both. A good number of Barcelona's gyms are also MMA gyms, so look for jiu-jitsu on the timetable, and send the gym a message before you turn up.

Inside the city, Eixample, Sants-Montjuïc, Sant Martí and Gràcia have the most gyms, with more in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi and Les Corts. Gracie Barra, 10th Planet and Atos all have academies in the area. Two Eixample gyms, El Club de la Lluita and Templum, rank near the top on Google reviews, along with 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Barcelona in Gràcia.

We've let the page carry on past the city limits, to Terrassa, Sabadell and Sant Cugat del Vallès inland, Mataró up the coast, and L'Hospitalet, Cornellà and Castelldefels to the southwest. On a short stay, the central districts are the easiest to reach on the metro, while Terrassa, Sabadell, Sant Cugat and Mataró are commuter-rail trips from the center.
