The BJJ Scene in Porto

In Porto, you can train at a football stadium. There's an academy under the Boavista FC name at the Bessa, the club's home ground, and a couple more gyms nearby in Boavista. Elsewhere in the city you'll find mats from Trindade and Bonfim out to Foz do Douro by the sea.

We've also taken this page across the Douro to Vila Nova de Gaia, which has more gyms than any single part of Porto, and north to Matosinhos and Maia. Gracie Barra is on both sides of the river, with academies in Trindade, Boavista and Maia and at Devesas on the Gaia side. GFTeam is in Bonfim and out in Maia, Ralph Gracie is in Matosinhos, and Alliance has an academy in the city. Focus Jiu-Jitsu Headquarters in Matosinhos tops the Google review count, just ahead of Ginásio Absoluto in the city, and Norte Forte Fight Club, also in Porto, is third.

Farther afield, Braga to the north and Aveiro to the south have pages of their own. Closer in, the metro runs out to Gaia, Matosinhos and Maia, so training outside the city doesn't have to mean driving.
