The Best BJJ Gyms in Vienna

Vienna is a city of numbered districts, and that's the easiest way to get your bearings. Landstraße, the 3rd, has the most gyms, followed by Leopoldstadt (the 2nd) and Donaustadt (the 22nd), which sits across the Danube. Neubau and Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus, west of the center, add a few more, and beyond those the gyms are spread thinly, from the Innere Stadt out to Simmering, Penzing and Liesing.

Roger Gracie's Vienna academy is in Neubau, and Renzo Gracie and Axis both have schools in the city too. Mixed martial arts has a solid footing here alongside the dedicated jiu-jitsu academies. On Google, ZR Team Vienna in Mariahilf has gathered the most reviews, with MMA Vienna in Wieden and City Thong Fitness & Fight Club in Margareten next, all three in neighboring inner districts.

When you compare addresses, let the postcode do the work. Its middle two digits give the district, so 1030 is Landstraße and 1220 is Donaustadt. Districts 1 to 9 make up the inner city, so if you're staying centrally, anything from 1010 to 1090 should be a short U-Bahn or tram ride away.
